DrO,

My 17 yr old Arab mare has usually had lameness/soreness the day after I give her 4-in-1 shot. (flu, sleeping sickness, and tetanus) I give the shot in the neck. Yesterday I did her shot and this morning she was trembling with chills. After blanketing her, she seemed fine. She is moving slow today which is normal for her. I plan on putting her out to graze later for a few hours so she gets some movement.

It's rather cool and cloudy here today...40's for highs.

Other than keeping on eye on her for more extreme reactions, anything else I should be on look out for? Is this common in some horses?

I suspect she is running a low grade fever from the shots Angie and is shivering. On a unusually cool morn that is not that odd. For more on this see, Care for Horses » Vaccines & Coggin's Test » Vaccines and Adverse Reactions.
