Hello , I have a issue I need some help with.

I have a 3 yr old horse that i basically rescued about two months ago with heaves. Before I brought her home I had the owner call the vet out and eh ran some test on her and said that she had what looked to him to be a very bad cold and put her on antibiotics and bute and said she would get better . Well she did just that she made what I thought was a full recovery.
This last week she started with the same simptoms again and this time she is very bad . I am giving her the antibiotics again and have been giving her Wind Aid but I am not really sure that she is going to pull through or not , she is having a very hard time breathing , is this something that she will suffer from for the rest of her life ? Is it selfish to keep trying to treat her or would it be better for her to be put down and stop the suffering . I am having the vet back out to check her again , but i figured I would see what anyone else thougth before they get here
