One of the horses boarded across the street from where my horse is died of salmonella. What are the risks involved for the horses at my barn? I have heard that the number 1 way of passing it on is through manure. Is there a chance of it being spread through birds, bugs, ect? |

Animals may act as vectors but the risks are very small from most wildlife. I would be most concerned about the bottom of foot ware or if their land drained onto your land. DrO |

All foot ware has been cleaned in bleach prior to any contact with the horses in my barn. No chance of drainage onto our land as it is across a very wide street. Thanks Dr. O |
