I just finished hauling in the last of the bales and treated the horses in the barn to new hay. Out of 9 horses, four have very loose stools as of this morning. They are not stalled next to each other, and the only thing I can think of is that there must be a new element in the hay that they aren't used to. It has also been very hot and muggy, so maybe that is the problem. Any thoughts? I tried to find a list of dangerous plants among the subject lists but could not. |

It is normal when a horse's forage changes to have loose stools for up to 2 weeks. So if there are no other symptoms and there are no dangerous contaminating weeds this is probably no big deal. For a list of poisonous plants see the article associated with this page. Beside the articles we have written there are links to several good poisonous plant lists. DrO |
