Hello. I rehabilitated my horse from upper suspensory tears in the hind hocks a year ago. My horse is sound strong and now we are introducing canter (not collected) into his regimen. In the past month, a slight enlargement of one hind medial patella tendon has appeared. Is this something that could be a cause of the initial hock issue, a result of more intense work, or a separate issue to deal with? What are the protocols for dealing with this? |

I think a separate issue stenella and most likely a injury occurring from more intense work or perhaps a acute injury from a stumble for instance. I would have the swelling ultrasounded and if it is a injury to the patellar tendon or ligament, anti-inflammatories and rest until this heals on the ultrasound. DrO |
