Three days ago my mare's inguinal area began to swell. Yesterday it began to drain. Today when I went out it was filled with light yellow puss. She was very sensitive, but I squeezed as much out as possible. Should I be worried about pigeon fever or does this sound like it's just an abscess?

It is impossible to tell from your description, you should have your vet out to help you with this.
