Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong area, I wasn't sure where to post it. I noticed today that my mare's anus (i'm not sure if that is the technical term) is sunken in - like someone mentioned in an earlier post. I have noticed this in 2 other mares in our barn from a long time ago, but never found out what it was caused by. She is (or was pregnant) and should be going on 2 months today. She is out in grassy pasture. Is this normal, or is there anything I should be worried about?

There is quite a bit of variation in the confirmation and it is somewhat dependent on the overall condition of the horse. There is a condition, usually seen in thin or older multiparturient mares where the conformation of the perineum becomes abnormal with a sunken in anus and the vulva that breaks over the pelvis even with the mare in good condition. What the status is of your mare would require an exam.
