Dr. O,

My mare has a small chunk missing out of her R front hoof, in the heel bulb area just below the hairline, but not on the horn. I believe she sheared this off from riding in a sand arena and her EasyBoot Bare boots came off (this is the only thing I can think of).

There is no swelling, redness or lameness. I have been spraying betadine on it then applying silver sulfadiazine. Any thoughts? My vet is coming out 9/22 to vaccinate. Thank you. Leilani

Without examining it I cannot give specific advice Leilani, but from your description keep it clean and you should be fine.

Hi Leilani,

Can you get pictures of it and post them?
