My vet has told me that isoxuprine is no longer being produced. Has anyone else heard this?

We just got in a couple of bottles, (Don't let anyone get the idea I recommend the stuff), and have not heard anything about a shortage but then again we are not heavy users of the product.

My MIL was taking it for one of her health issues (prescribed by a Dr.) and didn't have any trouble getting it.

Equus magazine published a study that showed Isoxsuprine ineffective as a vasodilating drug in horses. It is essentially "shelved" as a waste of money much in the same way that predisone was when it was discovered to be ineffective. I don't know if this means that it has been pulled from the market, but even if it hasn't you may want to reconsider if the "improvement" you see is actually due to isoxsuprine. Just a thought.....:-)
