Hello Melody,
There is no work to show aspirin is more helpful than bute in founder but some might try it experimentally for its anticoagulative properties, which bute does not have.

Do you want to use it for its antiinflammatory properties or anticoagulative properties? The dosages are different. The dosage for aspirin for antiinflammatory action is given in the article » Equine Medications and Nutriceuticals » Anti-inflammatories, Steroids, and Arthritis Treatment » Aspirin. Just like humans the anticoagulative dose is aout half this dose.

Dr.O
I am sorry I forgot to mention the mare is on 4 grams bute a day and down to 500lbs dose of Banamine 2 times a day the aspirin is being given as a anticoagulative. I am slowly cutting her meds back and she is staying pretty sound in a deep stall but her feet are still warm to touch so I am hesistant to cut them back until they feel the same as her back feet(in tempreture) is this what I should gauge her meds by or should I go solely by how she looks when I walk her out? I am also giving her ace 1cc a day as a antocoagulative.

Got it you should be able to generate a dose from the above information and the article. Note, the acepromazine is not a anticoagulant (that I am aware of), it is a vasoactive agent: it works in founder by dilating the blood vessels and hopefully increasing blood flow.
