I started both my horses on adequan as an arthritic preventative in July- and one horse really got sunburned-which struck me as odd after two months of summer sun. I called the company- and they assure me there is no reported photo-sensitivity- but I have talked to others who say it is a side effect--anyone found this to be the case???

Interesting - My older horse has been on Acetyl-D (sp?) (generic Adequan)once a month for about 6 months. He developed skin sensativity on his face and tail, which I attributed to bugs. However, as his arthritis is very bad, I began the injections once a week, having been told it is safe enough to use even daily. The skin sensativity has worsened considerably, which I find odd since the bugs are decreasing, and no other horses are having a problem. He has never been bothered to this extent by bugs or sun before, I wonder if it could be the age, the bugs, the injections or any combination of the three. I am considering decreasing the injections to see what happens.

Though I see sunburn frequently, I have not associated it with Adequan use. Anyone else out there?
