I was doing some research online about Kelp and Blue/Green Algae as several people have recommended it as as supplement for my horse. I was somewhat concerned because of the high levels of mercury found in the ocean which could contaminate kelp and algae. I came across this article which I thought some folks on this forum may want to read. It finds that some kelp supplements contain high (over FDA recommended) levels of arsenic. I don't know how to validate if studies are actually real/true, but thought this worth posting. Perhaps Dr. O can tell if it has legitimacy to it.

That is pretty scarey Louise, considering that I make my teenage son take "sea vegetable" supplements (he hates most veggie, all green veggies). My own doctor suggested it!
I think he'll just have to eat his peas from now on!

The important question is why would you want to give kelp as a supplement?
