Hello,

I am considering putting my new horse on Strongid C. He is field boarded along with about 20 other horses. Though I am fighting hard to change it, at this point the boarders are trusted to worm their own horses, which means some may get wormed regularly and some may not.

My question is, would Strongid C help me protect my horse in a group turnout situation where the worming program of the other horses is unknown or am I throwing my money away since the other horses are not on the same daily wormer (or even on a regular paste) program?

Hello Debbie,
We take up this point and other important aspects of daily pyrantel at, Care for Horses » Deworming & Parasite Control » Overview of Deworming. Jump down to the Strongid subheading.

Well that was easy enough! I thought I had already read it but obviously missed the most important part:

"For people who have horses on pastures where they do not control all the horses' deworming programs this product is worth every penny. This is the only product that will protect your horse from a contaminated pasture. The result will be fewer colics, a better hair coat, and less feed required."

That is the answer I needed.

Thanks Dr O!

I can't find the daily pellets in B.C., Canada. Are they still available? Where can I get them. I, too board a horse with other horses that are not on the same deworming schedule.
