My vet gave me a bottle of Dex for my horse's occasionally respiratory flare ups. I only have used it 3 or 4 times over the course of a year and a half and it does the trick. My question is does Dexamethasone go bad after awhile and is there a proper way to store it?

Hello Christina,
Yes there are expiration dates on injectable dex products. You should always follow the instructions on the bottles for storage but most dex products are stored at room temperature.

I presume your horse has heaves and do worry that your management results in flare ups that often. I would redouble my efforts at following the recommendations in the article on COPD.

Thank you for the information on Dex. Since last year, my vet has diagnosed him with allergies and at certain times of the year something blooming outside will cause a flare up. We currently have a routine that is working well for him.
