Hello all,

My neighbor has a viewed a video tape about this brand of Equine Supplements. Apparently quite impressive results were shown - such as a severe founder case with rotation that was completely resolved in 6 months just with the supplements.

Naturally, I am sceptical. Does anyone here have any experience, good or bad, with this brand of supplements.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Lilo

I used SIlver LIning Herbs for a Respiratory problem. I do not know if it helped, because I did other things in combination. I have heard good things though. Is this what you are talking about....the herbs?

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your response. Yes, apparently they have different herbs for different conditions, and my friend is considering it for an older gelding who has been lame for some time.

I have not seen the tape myself - maybe I should borrow it. I am always sceptical because DrO often points out that with time some conditions heal regardless of what supplements or medications we use.

Lilo,
When looking at products like this it is best to address the qualities known for the specific ingredients and not a name brand per-se. There are no herbal supplements that I am aware of that are known to reverse the rotation of founder but there are good care and trimming techniques that can reduce the amount of rotation.

HI Lilo,

I used the Silver Lining Herbal products for Joint Support and the Training Mix for the first nine months or so after I bought our horse.. It all certainly smells good and the horse ate it, but I quit using the products and prefer to use glucosamine HCL and Adequan to maintain joint health.

I called the company once and asked if they could give me a percentage amount of all the herbs they list on the packages and they said that they didn't do that... So I stopped using the products because I just wasn't comfortable not knowing exactly how much of whatever herb they were using was going into my horse.

I agree the testamonials are convincing... I bought into it, but I in good conscience cannot recommend to anyone the use of this product alone to turn around a lame horse into a sound one.

Smiles,
Debra

Debra,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. If they do not want to share the percentage of the ingredients (could be they don't want any duplication), are they at least listed in the order of percentage, with the first one listed being the highest percentage?

Anyway, your experience confirms my scepticism.

Thanks,
Lilo

HI Lilo,

Yes, the ingredients are appearently listed in the order of highest percentage. There can be a number of different herbs listed in one product which got me to wondering about how compatible all these herbs worked together, especially when you used two or more of the products together.

Your Welcome,
Debra
