There's a mare up at my barn that's 10 days past her due date. Is there anything wrong, or is she just a little late?

Hello Mary,
10 days over is not that unusual but there is no way for us to know if there may be something wrong. Is she still on fescue? Does her mammary development look OK?

I've heard of a couple of mares who routinely go past the 12 month mark. Is this mare maiden? If not, do you know the accuracy with which she foaled in the past? I don't think 10 days is unusual at all.

Mary,

My mare foaled last year and missed carrying him a full 12 months by 5 days! Talk about a nervous wreck!
