Dr. O,

The new Anti-Inflammatory drug Celebrex can it be used on horses????? If yes, what dosage??? My horse has suffered from ulcers in the past and I need to use Bute sometimes but always worry. Would Celebrex be the best.

I am afraid there is no information on this product in horses yet. We do discuss some possible alternatives to bute in: The Horseman's Advisor: Equine Medications: Anti-inflammatory Drugs:
An Overview of NSAID's.

also check out vioxx
works on humans much better than celebrex
they were taliking about doing studies with small animals but i don't think they did it yet
check out their web site
vioxx is from merck and people only have to take it once a day
but i will tell you it qwould be very very very expensive to use on horses
it cost humans (both drugs) aroun 3.50-5.00 a day depending upion there dose
but vioxx is a miracle drug it works great
