Is liquid Ivermectin as good as the paste?

In my opinion, it's better. I get a prescription from my vet, order 100cc bottles--which at my barn comes out to about $7 a dose. I have a "doser" from KV vet that allows me to give an accurate dose in about 1 second. (They don't have time to get resistant.)

I get the Eqvalan, which is formulated for horses, at a 1.87% concentration of Ivermectrin. Some people seem to think the cow stuff is just as good, although the concentration is lower (1%), and it costs more. Go figure.

I suppose if you were in a bind, you could buy the cow stuff and double dose it. That's a good question for Dr. O.

As long as the dose is correct and the horse swallows it all, it is just as good. I do believe it is easier for the horse to reject the liquid so a special doser with a long neck on it so that it can be placed on the back of the tonque should be used.
