My mare has been on Cimetidine for about 6 weeks now, and it's working! The tumour next to her ear is around 30% smaller, and some of the others are noticably smaller too, including some of the dozens under her dock.
Will she have to stay on this medication indefinitely (and could she safely)? Will the tumours grow back if she comes off it?
I was intriqued to discover from the package insert that Cimetadine is a human medicine for the treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers. And in horses apparently, according to your article - horses get ulcers???!!!???
If it's a human medicine for ulcers, how on earth was it discovered that it shrinks equine melanomas??? And does it have the same effect on human melanomas?

Our horse was diagnosed with melanoma 4 weeks ago and started on Cimetidine 2 weeks ago. How long does it take for the tumours to start shrinking? By the way, if your horse is still on Cimetidine you may want to look into purchasing it from Canada. Go to ....

and check it out. The best price we could find in the USA was out of Tenn. That was 2X the quote we got from CanadaRX. Glenn in Vermont
