There's a new publication for Hawaii horse owners and riders, Malama Lio: The Hawaii Horse Journal. "Malama Lio" means "caring for the horse" in Hawaiian, and that's the focus of this monthly newsletter. It's for all breeds, all disciplines, all islands. Malama Lio is available free online as a PDF at www.malama-lio.com, or you can pick up your copy from your local feed store or tack shop (local in Hawaii, that is!). Mail subscriptions are also available. Thinking of moving to Hawaii with your horses? The May issue discusses options and challenges of transporting horses to, from and within Hawaii. Looking for a broader market for your horse business? Consider advertising in Malama Lio, Hawaii's only statewide publication for horse people. |

Denny T is offering a 2 day clinic at my facility, New Mexico, in May and October this year. I am so proud to have met and come to know Denny. We have decided, after Denny came out to see that I had a verifiable place , to partner up by having him come twice annually to offer his knowledge and pragmatism to the South West. I wanted HA members to know of this prior to putting out my advertising blitz. The web-site where details can be found is www.ruidosoequine.com Denny has offered so much to so many on this site. I know many have voiced the desire to meet with him if possible that I thought it only just that the opportunity to meet him in person be offered the HA community in advance of the general public. |

Pessoa Anky Dressage Saddle The ongoing quest to find a saddle that fits both me and my horse continues. I have a new saddle on order and will be selling my Pessoa Anky saddle. It's almost 2 years old, is an 18" seat with a MW tree and is in excellent condition. This saddle retails for around $1700. I'm asking $1200 plus shipping and insurance. I will be putting it on eBay in a couple of weeks, but wanted to give it a chance to sell here first. If interested, please email me at chrisbriding@ca.rr.com |

Roosli Pilatus 17" XW Black Dressage Saddle for sale. I have a new horse, and this saddle does not fit him. Roosli saddles are handmade in Switzerland. They are wool stuffed , wide panels, deep seat, substantial thigh blocks. This is a very comfortable saddle for both horse and rider, and puts the rider in a very correct position. This is an Xwide tree, and fits horses with a very wide flat back, and low wither. This saddle is 5 years old and in very good condition, except for teeth marks on the back of the seat, near the cantle. My horse reached over while it was on the saddle stand and scraped it with his teeth! Roosli's retail new for $2,999.00 and because of the teeth marks I am greatly reducing this beautiful saddle to $1,200 OBO. I have several photos, and would be happy to answer any questions. I am in Connecticut, if any one in the area would like to see the saddle. Thanks so much d.auld@comcast.net www.roosli.com for more info |

If you are looking for a comprehensive horse health & medical record keeping system, I developed a unique product that I launched on the Internet last year. The Equine Health Management System (EHMS) is designed for use by horse owners to provide important information to treating practitioners. Our feature product is the EHMS Horse Package that consists of a set of basic record forms for each health-related activity that horse owners perform on a regular basis such as vaccinations, deworming, farrier, and dentistry to name a few. Record forms are separated into color-coded sections for quick & easy reference of the information you have recorded. The initial forms included with the EHMS Horse Package are designed to provide two years of data recording. As these initial forms are completed, EHMS provides a series of record refill packages that are designed to allow customers to purchase only those record forms that are needed. Additionally, EHMS has developed a series of accessories to tailor either your portfolio system or each individual EHMS Horse Package to fit your specific needs. Visit the Accessories link to view all the packages available. Fully vet reviewed, customers who have already purchased my product love it! Accessory packages allow customization of the EHMS records to fit specific needs including breeding, conditioning, & competition. Visit my site to learn more. www.yourequinehealth.com |

I have a Clinton Anderson saddle, without a horn that I am selling. It's really like new. The back cinch has never even been next to a horse. It has been used about 5 hours. The seat size is a 14 or 15 inch. I can take some pictures and email if you're interested. I had to buy a reining saddle in order to compete and I ride in it all the time to be used to it (me and the horse), and I lost my trail horse to colic, so this saddle has just been not been used. There is truly not a mark on it. The sheepskin lining is pristine. If you're interested, I'll email a phone number and pictures. I will sell it for $1200.00 Thanks, Julie |

APHA 2005 filly for sale: WH Color by Design (Desi) is a coming two year old filly I bought when I was looking for a yearling gelding for a friend. I couldn't pass up the mind on this filly and just thought it would be so fun to work with her for awhile and she has been delightful. My horse hating husband wants me to sell one of my old horses and keep her--he's totally in love with this filly! I knew it couldn't be long term as I don't have the room or time for a fifth horse! She's on a property next to ours that's for sale, so I really need to find her a home of her own. She has the most incredible mind--willing, eager, smart, affectionate, confident and kind. She is ready to show at "In Hand Trail". She has very extensive ground training--from birth! Every new thing she's been introduced to she has willingly accepted. She's a flashy chestnut and white tobiano, has a beautiful neck and lovely movement. She is AQHA on the bottom (Peppy San Badger on her papers). Her sire was Yearling Grand Champion in 2000. Her mother was a winner of several Working Cowhorse Futurities. She has siblings winning in open shows and hunter/jumper. She will be easy to start under saddle this spring due to all the ground training. She's had regular farrier care, worming and vaccinations. She will probably mature at 15-3 or 16 hands. She's calm, bold and has a fast walk so would make an excellent, safe, trail horse, breeding and movement to put you in the ribbons, and color if you decide to add the blood of Peppy San Badger to your broodmare band! I can keep her until early spring here and will continue training. I'm mostly interested in a knowledgeable, loving home so the price is $1750 to the right person. Thanks, Julie |

15.1h 8yr old registered APHA Quarterhorse in foal $4,500. Candy has been bred to a Mangalarga Marchador and is due in March. She is smooth, well under saddle, very calm, responsive and an experienced trail horse. She is a lovely, sweet horse with whom I am sorry to part, but my herd is too big. I will not have the time needed to give her and her foal the attention and space they deserve. She came to me as part of a legal settlement. For any further questions etc please email me at equus@cyberverse.com

Appy/ QH fillies for sale. Basically sorrel. One with tiny snowflakes on rump. (Abbey) Going on 3 years. One with wide white blaze, stockings, one blue eye. (CC) Going on two years. Descriptions below: "Abbey and CC are full sisters. And they ALL MOVE EXACTLY THE SAME ----- off of their hind! Abbey has a few "smattering" of teeny tiny spots on her rear - but you have to look for them and then it's just like a few hairs. If someone is interested in both of them, we would work out a deal for the 2 of them. Their mother is a non-characteristic Appy - and their sire is a Palimino QH. I'm sure they could be double registered with the ApHA and with AQHA. CC (the one with the blue eye) is going to be taller than Abbey. But once again, movement wise --- they move the same. Dale (our trainer) has seen CC and he likes her as well. He did say that as far as I'm concerned, her "less than stellar" personality (mare-ish) will be okay as she gets older. But then again, Dale like his horses to have "just enough of a witch" in them --- as he puts it. He feels that they work cattle better with just enough of that attitude. All I know is that Dale was EXTREMELY impressed with Abbey, said that she broke out pretty easily and then after bringing her home and not doing a single solitary thing with her for almost 2 months, saddled her and rode her down the rode with a gelding. She'd never gone on that road before and you would have thought she'd been doing it for quite some time - even when a car passed. It wasn't as though she had to follow the gelding, either. I'd say about half the time she was out front. There were just a couple of times that she didn't want to do something, and I just rode the gelding through it and she then went on ahead through it." I bought a really nice Appy gelding from this person, and she is an honest, knowledgeable horsewoman. She was recently married, and she and her husband are scaling down to only three or four horses. The owner sent photos of both fillies, but I can't minimize them to post them here, so will gladly send them to anyone who is interested. Will also provide contact info to interested parties. Just e-mail me: hollysjubilee@hotmail.com for more info. |

More Neglected Horses Blue Bonnet Equine Rescue in North Texas: Dallas / Fort Worth Area http://bluebonnetequine.org Blue Bonnet only needs temporary homes and food and shelter; they pay all medical costs. Permission to cross-post. http://www.katv.com/news/stories/0806/352372.html On Friday, we got a complaint of 25+ horses in Arkansas. Before Tina could check it out, she got a call from Faulkner Co. Sheriff's Dept. - they had been out to investigate and needed our help ASAP. They were worried some of these horses would die without immediate intervention. Our absolutely fabulous Tina dropped everything she was doing and rushed out to meet with the deputy. When she got there, she was appalled. Many of the horses were in horrible condition, and they found skeletal remains of at least one horse. There were three horses and one donkey that she was especially concerned about. She spoke with the owner and made an appointment to meet him this evening (Sunday). At that time, he surrendered a mammoth jack, an injured foal, a horse, and three draft mares (possibly Belgium or Suffolk mares). These may have been PMU mares, I'm not sure. The mares are likely pregnant (with mammoth mules!). Tina will post pictures soon - and Tina WILL be following up with the owner to make sure he provides for the remaining horses. If conditions do not improve soon, we will be forced to seize the remaining horses. I say we are at a crisis point, why? Because the rescue is overfull. We should NOT have taken in these 6 - and we certainly should not seize the remaining 15+ horses. However, what else could we do? These guys needed our help. The sad thing is that there are -many- more who do. We've received over 120 neglect complaints since Jan. 1 - and over half of those have been since June 1. We have probably 15-20 other horses in AR that desperately need to be seized, but we are at maximum capacity. So how can you help? - Foster! If you have space for even one more horse, please please please become a foster home. I do promise that as soon as Spencer and I get up our new fence and get approved, we will be signing up to foster. And we'll get that fence up just as soon as I can get enough articles sold to pay for it! -Adopt! If you are considering adding another horse to your family, look at the rescue horses! We have many who are broke to ride and others who are at a perfect age to start training. There are talented horses who can become your next ranch horse, trail horse, or even show horse. And if all you want is a pet/companion, we have those, too! -Join! By becoming a member, you support the work of BEHS. Your membership fee helps us run the rescue & pay the vet bills for these horses as well as the cost of performing seizures and investigations. -Volunteer! We need people who can help investigate neglect (we will teach you how), help check out potential foster/adoptive homes, check up on our horses, work at fundraisers, find donations, and more. If you have the time, we can find a volunteer spot for you. -Donate! We need hay, grain, de-wormers, halters, leads, etc. for these and other horses. We also need money to help pay vet bills and the costs of investigating neglect. If you have used or new tack you don't need, you can donate that for us to sell and raise additional money. All donations are tax-deductible as BEHS is a 501c3! At BEHS, we need your help. But even more importantly, there are hundreds of horses, donkeys and mules who need your help. Together, we can make a difference. Become part of the Bluebonnet Family and become part of the solution! Jenn Williams President, BEHS |

I need a new barn!!! In Maryland. Here are the details. My barn manager and I never really got along and she has decided to give me the heave ho. She was not happy that I got Harper because he was so green. She took a training session on leading I had with my new boy where he just got upset until he understood what I wanted (not to run me over!!!) then was a good boy again to call me dangerous and say that I will train this horse to be dangerous too. I knew it was coming, but a little notice would have been nice. She has given me the standard 30 days plus two to make it to the 31st. I have been planning on moving for a while now, but this is forcing me to go when I wasn't quite ready. I would really appreciate help in finding a place. Here are my requirements 1) It has to have two stalls for me 2) Has to have a toilet and somewhere to get changed 3) Has to be willing to feed smartpaks to both horses, and Lilly alfalfa pellets and oil (she has EPSM) 4) Has to have an outdoor arena 5) Has to have hot water 6) Free access hay, alfalfa for Lilly 7) At least half day turnout 8) I have to be able to bring in outside trainers 9) It has to have jumps, or allow me to bring my jumps 10) Indoor arena, if it doesn't have one, the outdoor must be all weather and have lights 11) Locatio |
