i have two thoroughbred mares that are hardkeepers and they are 2 months pregnant. I would appreciate some advice with a daily feeding requirement for them. ie; Alfalfa 2 x daily plus ? Strategy or Oat Bran plus sweet feed mixture and in what amounts. I am new to this and don't want to give the wrong proportions and certainly don;t want to risk foundering.

Thanks to all for any advice.

Pregnant mares do not require a food change, assuming they were in good condition before they became pregnant, until around the fifth month when the fetus begins to grow rapidly. The changes made at that time are outlined in the article Equine Reproduction: Breeding and Foaling: Pregnant Mare Care and Nutrition.
