We just finished our bath and massage, i dont think she really appreciated it very much, she kept her ears pinned and i think she wanted to kick or bite me. Well that will be the last one until she has the baby , she was just to antsie for me , she didnt stand still for a minute, it was more like a chore than a treat , she usually loves to be groomed

I think the waiting is almost over....how many of us on HA will be checking our posts tonight and first thing tomorrow morning to see if there was an arrival. You better keep your camera handy. We need lots of shots of the new one priscilla.

I am still picking August 30, around 10:00pm!

A lot of mares get a bit grumpy before they foal (can you blame them?) Others get extra sweet and lovey. I haven't found either behavior had anything to do with how they would treat their foals once they arrived. I think some mare just get hyper-sensitive to touch, and some aren't getting much good sleep, either...and you know how that affects you!

I had a mare that I could do anything with, but about 12 hours before she foaled she made it very clear that it was time to stop touching her. I'm saying tomorrow morning 3am.

good luck

This is so exciting! I am sitting here looking at my calendar trying to pick a day and time. Ummm, let's see.....how about August 31st about 1 a.m. We had a mare back several years ago and our barn was not at our house so the night we decided to start "camping out" there, she fouled that night before midnight. Our children were small then and they were able to witness the birth. They still talk about that. The funny part was I drilled them and drilled them, told them not to panic during the birth. This was not her first foul and I kept telling them she knew what she was doing. My children still pick on me because I was the one who was in a panic state. I kept telling my husband to do something! The kids were like "Mom, she knows what she is doing!" Too funny. We're all waiting very UNPATIENTLY, Priscilla!!!

There was one for 6 am on 1 Sep I believe? Anyone else?

No JoDeen, that would be far too convenient for Priscilla and for all of us at HA. The mare will have the baby the minute Priscilla falls asleep, or takes a long distance phone call. As soon as the foal is safely born, Priscilla's computer will crash, so we will all have to spend days wondering what happened. Its Mare-phy's Law.

What's the prize? The winner gets to name the foal? I the winner just gets to keep the foaling pen clean, or clean Priscilla's house to make up for the last month's neglect, forget it!!

NOTHING , NOTHING
OH the pain I am going through ... lol really her not me . She is standing in her stall doing nothing, she keeps shifting her weight from side to side and when she takes a step to move she acts like she cant hardly move , her first couple of steps are like walking on ice , she moves very very slow , then she stands and starts shifting the weight back and forth. could I be going crazy looking for all these signs? I have read all the information i could on foaling and labor from the computer to the books I have bought from the store. She is doing everything she is supposed to do except for giving friggin birth ..... going to take a shower then going back out to her stall to check again for any signs . Tonight I will set my alarm for 2:00am , last night i was up from 1:00am , and the guess is 3:00 am I will get back on before I go for a nap

well look at the time, still no baby... I was out for a while this morning watching her laying down she is looking hard at her belly and i do me hard. She finally got up and I thought she would fall back down , she doesn't seem to be very stable when she first gets up . First thing when the vet wakes up I am going to call him to come out and check her and make sure everything is ok

Is there wax yet? Usually 24 to 48 hours after waxing. My mare really started sweating heavily before she foaled.

Thanks,
Just got caught up. Feels like I'm living through foaling season all over again!
Worse one I went through was a maiden mare that went 366 days, lack of sleep is not a fun thing.

Good Luck

Okay, Y'all, I am stuck at the hospital with my daughter ( I CAN complain, as I am now sure that SHE IS going to be fine, so, I really cannot complain) BUT, I AM AFRAID that this foal is going to be born while I'm not around my computer!
Priscilla, keep a good look out for the waxing, and get the wine ready!
I'll check when we get home on Friday or Saturday! I'm thinking about you!

Nancy- I'm glad your daughter is going to be all right. Nothing worse than having a sick or injured child (regardless of their age.)

Gosh, I could use a glass of that celebratory wine. Tell that mare to get on the stick, Priscilla. We'll save you a glass, Nancy.

Wow, nothing yet??? I am very thankful for my Blackberry, every post that comes in for this thread, I can read without being near the computer......but my husband thinks I am crazy. I have it sitting on my nighttable, and the other morning, when Priscilla posted at 4:46am I heard it buzz, I bolted out of bed to read the email, cause I knew that must have meant a foal was born, but to my dismay...still nothing.

Please Priscilla, go out and wisper in her ear and tell her it's time. For all our sakes!! I wonder if she knows there are so many anxious people waiting on her!!

Well nothing as of now and it is September 1 . I first posted this on July 18 I can not believe it has gone on this long... She seems to be doing fine, she is not showing any more or less signs than she has in the past. I have to say I am sorry for making you all wait along with me , but if you were not here I would be waiting alone and that wouldn't be very much fun . Like I said before she knows exactly what she is doing ( driving me crazy ) but I have to tell you last night I slept alllll night with out getting up and this morning I took my time going out to feed so that she could get the baby ready for me to see , and again nothing. Oh well another night , tonight I am not feeling so tired so i think I might be out checking about 100 times .

That's probably because her hindquarters are so relaxed. That's a good sign that she's prepared for the delivery. If she'd only just foal we'd be happy. I know what you're going through, and it's not fun. I just can't believe with all of her signs that she hasn't foaled yet. Did you have the vet check her again? I know that you were thinking about it. I really hope that it will be tonight. I know how much it sucks to get up during the night to check on her when your bone tired. I'm thinking of you.

Great idea! Here's a picture of my Morgan colt at 3 weeks old. Born May 9th. He's for sale.
Hawk

Here's a picture of my Morgan filly at 6 weeks. Born June 22nd. Not for sale.

Angel
My husband took this picture. From his height she looks tiny. I lectured him about him not taking pictures of foals at their level. It's a cute picture anyway.
