I am very concerned about a situation that is going on at my barn. The owners are somewhat clueless. They have decided it would be fun to breed a client's miniature donkey, so are arranging to have him (a stud) and two jennies put in a little pen on the property. In the meantime, the stud is allowed to wander at will around the property, even when noone is there. My mare is the only mare on the property. She is turned out during the day, and the fences are not unbreachable for a miniature donkey. He is about two feet high and she is 16 h. I have been told the donkeys are crafty and mares in heat will do anything to be bred. Is she in danger of being impregnated?

Thanks.

It's not likely, but where there's a will there's a way. If I was in your position I would be concerned.
