how many days will it be after a mare goes "out" of heat (is not receptive to the stallion)until she comes back "in" ( will be receptive to a stallion again)? i have always heard a mare comes in every 21 days, which i thought meant 21 days after she went "out", she would come "in" again. i read in one of your discussions that the whole cycle was 21 days. does this mean that, assuming the heat period is 7 days, that the mare will be back "in" 14 days after she goes out? i do not have a stallion where i keep my mares, so i have to haul them to the stallion to be teased. i mainly need to know this so that i will know when to recheck the mares after they have been bred. thank you very much, darrell purdue

Hello Darrell,
All of this and more is carefully explained in the article associated with this forum. Just click on Breeding Patterns... above and click on the articles title.
