I would like to teach my horse to spin.
What I remember about teaching a spin is to ask the horse to walk in smaller circles maintaining forward motion, rhythm and balance until the horse starts to cross over with the front legs.
Gradually as this gets smoother and co-ordinated you can ask for more oomph.
This info comes from quite a few years ago so perhaps someone knows a more effective way.

Thank you

Lori .. you are right on track. I do most of my work at the trot once horse is executing the smaller circles well. I also do a lot of drills turning "into" the rail to get the horse moving to his hind end and pivoting. Also, I add a little more weight in the inside stirrup.

I am also interested in hearing other methods.
