My three year old filly all of a sudden just lost her gate she dose not show lame I was wondering if a problem with her Overies might cause her to do this thanks

Might but probably not. Lameness is defined as a change in gait, perhaps this should be evaluated by a professional, they may see more. DrO |

I had a nice appy mare that was coming along great in her lope departures and we were schooling flying changes when all of a sudden she absolutely would not take her right lead. I wasn't doing anything different than usual, it's like she woke up one day and decided not to do it at all. Even on the lunge she would pick it up for a stride or two then switch to the left. I had her checked by a vet and even he was stymied. She showed no signs of lameness or stiffness in her hocks or stifles - nothing. Well I sold her anyway for a pretty penny so I don't have to worry about it anymore but it was so strange. Holly |

A horse doesn't stop doing something because it makes up its mind not to. There has to be some physical explanation for your mare's behaviour. I can only hope that you were honest with the buyers who paid that "pretty penny" for your mare. |
