I'm looking at purchasing a 2 year old filly who happens to be a bit straight behind. When talking about conformation, how big an issue on future performance and soundness is a horse being straight (post legged). I have never had one with this problem (Although I've had about every other trouble.) Is this a big fault that is likely to cause problems? What are the most likely ones I would find? I would be using her for primarily pleasure/trail with possibly a bit of low jumping.

Thanks,

Ella

It is all a matter of degree Ella. Could you post some good pictures taken from the side. Be sure the sun is behind the photographers back.

I will do that. I should be able to get some pictures tonight. Then I will challange my computer illiteracy skills and see if I can download them.

She is also quite butt high, as she tends to grow in the back and then catch up in the front. She is in a need to catch up stage. Would her butt being significantly higher right now make the problem look worse?

I don't think these legs are too straight for your intended use.

I'm so glad to hear you say that. I'm afraid I'm a bit attached already!
