I am looking for a new trail riding saddle as my daughter convinced me my Crates was too heavy for me (recently diagnosed with carpal tunnel and having problems with lifting) and that I should give it to her! Which I did....and now my question is, of the lighter western trail saddles available, which are the most comfortable and durable? I have owned a Circle Y cordura and did not like it. I am looking at Tennessean trail saddles by Fabtron (also interested in the endurance one) on the National Bridle website...anyone ride in these? What do you think? I hope to find something reasonably well made and comfortable in the 24 lb. or under range, but this means some parts will be synthetic...and that is ok as long as it will hold up. Any suggestions? Thanks, as always.

I absolutely love my Textan Flex Trail Saddle, and my treeless Bob Marshall Trail Saddle. Both are very lightweight, comfortable, and fairly priced. Good luck in your search.

Second vote for Bob Marshall saddle; they make both western and endurance models weighing 15-19lbs. They are leather and very good quality. http://www.sportsaddle.com
