I rescued some foals from slaughter in september and they were supposed to be grade QH's...... I have a pony, a tb cross, and a black and white filly that racks, real nice high flat knee'd action at a trot, has a nice beat to it. At the lope I can't tell what she does. Definitly not what a Paso of any sort does but that leaves walking horses and saddbreds. Anyways does any one know of some video clips or photos of TWH's or Saddlbreds in motion that I can compare her movement to. No one out here has any idea. Thanks |

There is a web site - gaitedhorses.net- I think, that has a good deal of informaton that you may find helpful.. I also think, on that web site I found articles about the different gaits, with pictures and analysis of the type gait each pictured horse was exhibiting. You may have to do some searching. Good luck |

Hi Cheryl, I have some clips of walkers in motion. I will email them to you. Unfortunately I won't get a chance to do that until later today. |

Cheryl, I notice you don't have an email address. This is a link to one of the sites with video clips: http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/tennesseewalking/ At the bottom of this page you will find some video clips. If you have an email address, you could email me and I will send you more. |

Sherri Thanks for the link. I've got gaited and ungaited horses and I never get tired of watching flat shod racking. Thats the first video I've seen showing the gait on a trail ride, but My, that one fellow was quite large. I would like to see the video of him getting on the horse. Cheryl Congratulation on your new group. Funny what wrong information you can get on horses from some rescues. I got a QH that turned out to be a mustang. I think they like to call every horse a QH. I see many black and white TWH's around here. I have always wanted one. I bred my Saddle mare with a B/W TWH, but my colt wasnt spotted. He is quite handsome though. I cant wait until he is old enough to ride. Colleen |

Hi Sheri thanks for the help i can't figure out why my email doesn't show its in my preferences. anyways it's shohler@wyoming.com I like this filly I usually just rescue horses to get them better for a new home, but i'd like to keep an eye on this one, I've never dealt with real gaited horses before, I however do have some appaloosa mustangs that do the indian shuffle. I can't wait to ride. I have noticed this girl is a sweet notthead, it is possible to be both, I have to remind her everyday everything that I've taught her or she just gets ugly. Maybe I can get some mpeg video of this girl moving that you guys can view. Thanks, Cheryl Hohler |

compared to the video my girls is not upright and forward she has her head down, body rounded, and has a distinct straight up and down flat kneed action, it definitly has an obvious beat to it. Maybe she's a spotted saddle horse, she is a black and white tobiano. |

Good luck with your new 'potentially gaited' horse. You will undoubtedly know if this horse is truly gaited once you ride her. If she is, you'll love it, although some walkers need to be trained to gait properly and with others, it does just come naturally. Unlike a Paso Fino, which I'm told is always gaited, you can get walkers that aren't particularly good at what they're supposed to be good it. Having said that, I've had people tell me they don't like gaited horses and I can't imagine why...anyone who doesn't like gaited horses, in my estimation, just hasn't rode one that gaits properly. There's nothing not to like. I have sent you another link to view TWH gaits via email, however I can post it here as well. It is at www.twhbea.com. Click on Breeds, and then on Gait. At the bottom of the page are videos on gait and proper conformation of the walking horse. |

well I found a place with clips of some spotted saddle horses and they definitly move like my girl. Hers is still a little different but not by too much . here is the website look at the video clips of the geldings http://www.spothorsesbj.com/Geldings.html My girl rounds her body and puts her head down when gaiting and cantering. I guess it shouldn't be to hard to collect with her.... It would be nice if I could find out more about her but it was a rescue I have nothing to go one other than I can tell you she is no QH.hehehe. this will be different I've only delt with arabs, QH's, and mustangs. |
