I'm considering buying a Griffin NuuMed High Wither Combination Contour Half Pad from Dover ($169) Does anyone have experience with this company's products? They're made in the UK. This particular pad looks like it would do a nice job of filling in the hollow behind the withers. Any feedback appreciated.

I haven't used the NuMed, however, I have tried the Fleeceworks (which is almost identical) as well as the Mattes. I found that a uniform thickness pad can cause tightness where you may not want it. I ended up getting rid of the Fleeceworks pad. The Mattes correction pads are wonderful, and well worth the money, as you can add more padding, where needed, or not. Also, Mattes is the only one that does not pad over the spine, which is important to avoid excess pressure. Considering the cost of many of these pads, a good saddlefit check is worth the money to avoid a sore horse. Once you're sure your saddle is appropriate for your horse, a pad can help when it loose weight, but not if it gains, as you will just be causing more discomfort. Hope that helps.

I find the Griffin Nuumed pads excellent - I love their high wither cut.

I think the Nuumed combination contour pad is the one a friend of mine got for her elderly warmblood - in his 30's, he was losing a fair amount of muscle, and the pads filled in the atrophied spots beautifully. You could reposition them as you liked.
