At a used tack sale, I picked up a flash bridle that is very unusual. The brow and nose band have white lined and the area that is sometimes braided for style is braided in red, yellow and green leather - I wondered if it was from Mexico.

Size wise, I would guess is it cob. I've a photo of my younger horse modeling it. But I can't seem to get it loaded here.

Just curious where it may have come from.

A photo would help. You have to resize it so they accept it on this site, I found that out the hard way. 300 pixels works. Sounds like it probably is from Mexico with those colors.

Mexico's flag colors are red, green, white with an eagle in the middle in a gold color.

Lithuania and Italy are red, yellow and green. Italy is a likely candidate.

Are you sure it isn't gold, red and black? That would be Germany.

It reminds me of those fancy Saddlebred bridles with the patent leather but the closest I could come was a dressage bridle & it's nowhere near what yours looks like but some do have the white lining... I've got to admit I've never seen one like yours. I have a Stubben dressage bridle that's black with white lining all around it but no fancy stuff, and that one cost me $225.00 about 25 years ago. Here's a link to one of the dressage bridles that has the lining that I found:

I guess what it all comes down to is personal preference so if it makes you happy, you're good to go!

I picked it up purely for fun and/or parts as it was very inexpensive. The reins are plain black webbed, the bit I well sell at the next consignment sale and the bridle is shear novelty.

I think it must have come from Mexico - it has the fiesta look going.
