So, As you all know, Im in the process of starting Pumpkin. This is the 3rd horse Ive started, all have been younger mares..Pumpkin is age 7. Im about 2 months along with her. Shes been doing great. Great on the ground manners, staying outta my bubble, she ground drives and lounges wonderfully.
But for the last 4 days shes been a such a giant butt! wanting to spook at everything, wanting to buck(I one rein stop her). wanting to be herd sour to spongebob. Just a total pain. well tonight when I go to her stall, she totally breaks down to spongebob... squats, pees, squeals.
Shes sooo in heat.
But my problem is... I dont get to take a break from work when I have cramps, so why should she!!

Anyhow, just wanted to vent about the Eater.
have a great night guys

Hi Leslie,

I feel your pain. My 7yo mare has frequently been abducted by aliens; I never know just what horse I'm going to encounter. Sometimes they return the real Anuhea, but other times...

Hello Leslie,
There are ways to keep mares from cycling including a new and improved oxytocin therapy, for more see Training & Conditioning Horses » Behavioral Problems » Suppressing Heat and Estral Behavior in Mares.
