Posted on Monday, Apr 20, 2009 - 2:46 am: I didn't get to go but I found out that www.universalsports.com has the full length video on the Dressage Grand Prix, the Freestyle as well as the Jumping. The only thing I didn't find was the retirement of Brentina.Cynthia |

Posted on Monday, Apr 20, 2009 - 10:57 am: I got home yesterday. Met up with Sara and had a lovely time.I've gone to all the World Cup shows in Vegas (2005, 2007, 2009) and have to say that while it was great for Steffan to win, it just wasn't as exciting as 2005 which still stands out in my mind as the best. Best rides, best entertainment, best crowds. I was really surprised to see so many empty seats each day and especially on the final night. The upper deck was maybe 30% occupied. The retirement of Brentina was a real tear jerker. Debbie rode her in, dismounted while they showed a montage of Brentina highlights on the screen, then they unsaddled her in the arena and walked her out. They were playing "Brick House" during the exit and Brentina starting passaging out, just like in her freestyle!! Not a dry eye in the house. Also, something to look for on utube is the pas de deux by Gunther Siedel and Elizabeth Ball to music from The Phantom of the Opera. Amazing! |

I hope you can find it on youtube.I think the economy must have affected a lot of people's plans to go to L.V. to watch, as I agree with Chris, the crowds just weren't there. The first two years you could barely walk in the vendor areas there were so many people milling about, and all the seats were full. This year you could have bought good seats on site before the performance. I hope the lack of sold seats doens't affect having it at the same venue again. I love having it in L.V. |

Posted on Monday, Apr 20, 2009 - 11:29 am: Hi all,Thanks for the link, Cynthia. I followed along on Nancy Jaffer's blog on equisearch.com, but would love to see the videos. My good friend Carol and her daughter got to go - I am looking forward to hear her first-hand account. I read that Las Vegas will consider having the World Cup again in 2014 - this time the economics just did not work out. Lilo |

I will do a search for that Pas De Duex, I would love to see it. The link did not work for me, I will go to the site without the numbers and try to find it.Cynthia |

Posted on Wednesday, Apr 22, 2009 - 12:36 pm: I was fortunate enough to get to Las Vegas..actually the first time for the World Cup, and loved all of it. I only saw the Dressage, but when you put beautiful music and beautiful horses together, nothing can beat it. I absolutely loved the Pas de Deux with Seidel and Elizabeth Ball...it was worth every cent I spent to go. It was also great to see the USA win the World Cup and Ravel is truly amazing...... |

Posted on Thursday, Apr 23, 2009 - 8:43 pm: I went to the club equestrian site and it was easy to find the video. I haven't gotten around to looking for the Pas de Duex yet but my husband is using the computer to study for training so I have to work around him. Plus the weather has cooled off and I am weeding my flower beds. The spring gardening bug has finally bit me. |
