My horse and i successfully trailered without a helper today. It went very well, except for one thing. He travels loose in a 2 horse slant. I have a covered chain that has a carabiner on one end and a panic snap for emergency exits on the other end. They attach to clips on the trailer side walls near the door. So I open the door and see the chain lying on the floor of the trailer. Can a horse undo such a snap? Luckily he doesn't barge out, but I may have to rethink the panic snap idea.

Hi, PJ, I have had horses undo the panic snaps before by giving a quick jerk on the rope or trailer tie.

Welcome PJ, If you mean the metal snaps that have a spring loaded sleeve that in an emergency you pull the sleeve to release the snap,....no they are not supposed to. But as Holly notes above all kinds of things happen that are not supposed to when faced with the force of a excited, well muscled, 1100 lb animal. DrO
