All the clinicians have their training tools which are all some kind of stick with a sash. A glorified whip...there are times I'd like something more solid than a whip, and no end flipping around, so I went to our local Dollar Store and bought some bamboo sticks. The kind you use for staking plants. I wrap the whole thing with duck tape or electrical tape, and tada, I have a nice 4' training tool. It's solid enough to tap the horse and mean business, lightweight, and if it does break I am out about .25 because I think they are in 4 paks for a dollar.

I wrap a little extra on the end for protection because it is a little bit of a point.
