At the moment I'm riding a horse who has had limited jumping training, (she can only jump small fences, ie. 50cm-1m). Ive tried gradually becoming higher in height with the fences but she just looses it, she rushes, stumbles and overjumps it! I've tried jumping poles, going back to the beginning but nothing helps!
Can anyone suggest a good method to traing her into jumping higher fences.
Thanks
Shemarrah

Bertalan de Nemethy wrote a wonderful book which lays out all the grids, ground poles, distances, etc. to help a horse develop jumping talent. It is very scientific - a lot more than just putting an x up and raising it.

By using his system, it will help the horse develop its eye for distances, etc.

The book is called The de Nemethy Method. Bert was the USET coach for 25 years and his Olympic teams were very, very successful.

It is my bible for any jumping endeavor.

Good luck.

Try searching "Advanced Book Exchange." I found an out of print book through them and ordered it from a bookseller in the UK. They sent it to the US. It worked out very nicely.

I think the url is http://dogbert.abebooks.com/ You can always search Yahoo for the exact name if that doesn't work.

Good luck with your search.
