i need some reassurance that i am doing the right thing or some other sugesstions to ease my mind!! i have a 5yr mare with alot of behavior problems that i need to get trained or get rid of.i have found trainers to work with, but i have a 34 yr old gelding who is her one and only buddy.i have a fear of him having heart attack or her going beserk if i send her off for lessons.not every trainer can accomadate a older horse who obviously has special needs.i am quite torn as to what to do,send just the mare and deal with the consqences or try to find a place/trainer who can take care of both of them.if any one has some ideas i would be grateful,as i want to get this training done this spring. i guess i'm being overprotective about both of them.but if something bad would happen because of separating them or sending the gelding along,i don't think i could forgive myself.

I know how you feel but at some point they will need to separate especially as your gelding is getting to the later stages of his life. What about getting a temporary companion for your 34 year old to take his mind off the mare when she goes?
