I would try swinging the rope around and over her back and head more. Then can stand on a box and throw all around her above her till she is comfortable. Do a little at a time then when she stands quiet stop. Repeat many times. Also if capable pony her off other horse or ride other horse around her while swinging rope. When relaxed, stop. Keep stepping up or backing off the pressure depending on her responses.

The spinning in the box sound like she might need to score a lot of cattle in order to learn to pay attention to your husband and not take a cue from the gate.

I like the idea of either sending her to a trainer too. It would be a lot more expedient than correcting stuff that he didn't mean to teach her (like what she has started doing in the box).
