The Shoulder-Fore is the first of the lateral movements that the horse must learn. It is used to straighten the horse. The horse is naturally more narrow in the shoulders than the hindquarters. They know this, and especially when ridden on the rail, move with their hind legs slightly to the inside of the forelegs.
