Hello,

We are looking at leasing out a mare for breeding purposes. Does anyone have a a copy of a lease agreement/contract that specifically pertains to leasing a broodmare?

Is there anything I need to look out for from the owners perspective? How much is realistic to charge for a broodmare lease in addition to the leasee paying all bills? What happens if the mare doesn't foal (she is a maiden)?

So many questions! If anyone has a breeding lease agreement they would be willing to share that highlights general issues and things we should or shouldn't be offering, that would be great. We want a contract that is fair to both parties.

Thanks.

I am currently leasing four mares to breed with my young Oldenburg, Donny. If you send me your e-mail address I would be glad to send them to you to use or modify. My e-mail is on my profile.
