I have purchased a pony from a dealer in the uk, he said when i bought her that the papers were to follow. He wrote out a receipt and stated this on the receipt, but it said may take up to six months. I am wondering why it would take so long, i have spoken to him and he says he will try to chase them up for me but have heard nothing since then (four weeks ago). can i do anything if he doesn't come up with them and if so what . |

I am not familiar with UK law but you should talk to whatever breed registration it is that the pony has the papers under. They would be able to tell you if this was normal and might shed some light on why the papers weren't with the pony at sale. I know in some instances it does take some time. My situation is a little different but I am still waiting the registration papers for my ex-racehorse. I have had him for 15 months. |

Christine If you're not a member of the British Horse Society you should be. If you are, phone them for specific advice. That's why you ought to be a member (actually I just let my BHS membership lapse but that's because they and their insurers don't quite get it that Ireland is a different country with different issues - I would recommend anyone in the UK to join).
