One of my horse's eyes is constantly teary, dripping water, lower lid sometimes slightly red. Could his problem be a clogged tear duct and is this a simple procedure to correct by flushing?

One of my boys has had this problem and a clogged tear duct certainly can act this way, Reba.

Sometimes a simple flushing by your veterinarian will correct the problem but there might also be a minor infection present.

To do the flushing, you will probably have to have your horse tranquilized so that your veterinarian can correctly insert the small tube to do the flushing.

Reba, is it possible this is a reaction to flies? It is the season... try putting on a fly mask and see if the problem goes away (it would go away within 24 hours).
