I have sold some horses on the condition that they are offered back to me if they are being sold again. This has worked many times.

However, I bought a horse on the same conditions. I do not want to sell the horse back to the previous owner as her circumstances have changed (she does not have the money, unless I agree to wait) and I have found her a better home.

Does anyone know what is legally binding. I cannot remember signing any conditions.

Hello avandia,
Laws regulating the commerce between individuals differ locally so to check rules that apply you will need to consult a lawyer. This could be done by phone and should not be expensive. From a common sense standpoint I would say, "the fact she cannot meet her side of the contract (pay for the horse) should relieve you of any obligations".
