My geldings' sheath is very swollen and hard. I cleaned it but not a whole lot of dirt came out. Mostly white gunk. I'm concerned he may be so sore he will not urinate. Should I get the vet immediately?

Yes, whenever you have an unexplained illness we recommend you call your vet out. We have an article on assessing swellings in general and it is at: » Equine Diseases » Skin Diseases » Diagnosing and Assessing Swellings in Horses.
