Buy some styrofoam coffee cups and fill several with water and freeze. When you are ready to ice an ache or injury on yourself or your horse, peel back a circular strip of the styrofoam and apply ice to the bruised or tender area.

Your hands won't freeze as the rest of the cup gives you a hand hold.

Sure beats all the water wasted cold water hosing, can be applied anywhere and is much more effective. Plus you can ice your horse in the comfort of her stall.
