We are going to plant barley for the straw value. We would like to use the barley "seed" for our horses. Is this possible? Can you direct me to a publication that would show how to use barley for horsefeed. Carolyn D.

Gosh that brings back memories. When I was little, the owner of the riding school would boil a big couldren of Barley to put in the horses' bran mash on a Sunday night. We would also feed barley (rolled or crimped)to horses that got a little too hot on oats.

I hope this is helpful, and thanks for bringing back fond memories.

The article which this forum is attached to discusses Barley as a grain for horses.
