This may be a stupid question but I have a mare that I bring out and feed separately as I have her on glucosimine for arthritis. She constantly slips over to the park next to us and starts eating the acorns. I immediately go after her and bring her back but we go through this every morning. So are acorns harmful?

Janet, my experience with acorns is limited. They fall free into my horses paddock from the oak trees there. I clean up what I can, but they ingest what I don't get and when I'm not around to clean. I have not run into issues with them, but since they are free-fed; I don't have hungry critters with too much time on their hooves and too many acorns for their own good. Just my humble experience. Dawn :-)
