my horse has very dry hooves, they also have several superficial(I hope) cracks. I would like to paint the outside of the hoof but I have two questions. Should the product go over the coronary band or stop short of it. I know there are different types of hoof products for different purposes. What ingredients should Ilook for in a dry hood product? Thank you.
Would it help to put something of the bottom of the hoof as well?

You should follow the instructions Laurie-Ann but in general the products I have seen are not put on the coronary band. The article on Hoof Care has more information and recommendations on types to use.
