Is it possible to have 2 lead out wires from a single electric fence charger? We have 2 paddocks that cannot be joined together and want to run seperate lead out wires to each one from a single charger. Can you do this?

Can't think of why it wouldn't work. Try it and see. If it doesn't work, then maybe you can span electric wire overhead from two tall posts.

Hmmm we have electric fence all over the place! I have never seen 2 lead wires...why I don't know.

What I would do would attach your second fence to the 1 lead wire coming out....that's what we do.

My guess is that one wire will undoubtedly be longer than the other, or with more or less resistance and you will find that one paddock wire will work much better than the other. The electricity will tend to travel down the easier/shorter path to complete the circuit.

Diane's idea to continue the single wire longer makes more sense to me.

From my admittedly weak knowledge of electricity the fencer only sees the wire or wires to charge and should not care whether they are in series (one paddock after another) or wired together. Yes longer fences will decrease the voltage of the fence but this is more to do with resistance and leakage than how they are wired.

Well I asked my husband (the electric fence king) and he said yes you can put 2 lead wires on.."just make sure they are tight"

It's a little unclear what the original question is. If it is, can I add an extra clip from the battery to another nearby fence run, the answer is yes, I do it all the time.

If the other fence run is some distance away, you might need to use insulated wire from the charger to the start of the other fence.

I know Gallagher's sells a special insulated wire for this purpose.

Best of luck
