My 11year old thoroughbred had his larynx removed. He often coughs at the start of exercise. Discharges digested food down his nostrils. His breath is very smelly. When he drinks the water comes down his nostrils. Is this all normal for having the larynx removed?

Wow Marcia, I have to admit I have never seen a horse with its larynx removed and I think that he has not developed aspiration pneumonia fantastic. Can you explain what happened to your horse that resulted in removal of his larynx and exactly what structures were removed?
